Inavelskoefficienten F_X beräknas här i Hästkatalogen enligt Wrights formel. Den summeras på gemensamma anfäder de första 8 eller 16 leden registrerade i hästkatalogen (beroende på hur komplett stammen är) enligt:
F_X = ∑(½^n₁+n₂+1 *(1 + F_A))
Där n₁ och n₂ är antalet generationer mellan en gemensam anfader och hästen och F_A är anfaderns egen inavelskoefficient. Om anfaderns stam är okänd antas F_A vara 0, så inavelskoefficienten är lågt skattad, särskilt om det saknas mycket angivna hästar i hästens stam.

Komplett stam-koefficienten c₈ är ett mått på hur fullständig hästens stamtavla är de första åtta leden. En hög c₈ ger en ganska säker inavelskoefficient F_X.
